We Don’t Want Your Money (Unless It’s Right)
This might sound strange coming from a shop that sells Colour PPF, but here is the truth: Colour PPF is not for everyone.
We turn down about 10% of the cars that come into Auto Glow. Why? Because sometimes, applying a high-end film is a waste of your money.
Before you drop thousands of Dirhams on a transformation, read this list. If you fall into any of these categories, you should probably keep your credit card in your wallet.
1. Your Clear Coat is Peeling or Damaged
This is the dealbreaker.
PPF is strong, but it relies on your car’s factory clear coat to stick.
- The Scenario: You have an older Nissan Patrol where the roof paint is starting to flake or oxidize (white powder). You think, “I’ll just cover it with Colour PPF to hide the damage.”
- The Reality: PPF is not a band-aid. The adhesive will grip the loose paint flakes. When we try to reposition the film during installation, it will rip the remaining paint right off the metal.
- Our Advice: If your clear coat is failing, you need a body shop to sand and repaint it first. Do not wrap over rust or peeling paint.
2. You Are Leasing the Car (And Didn’t Check the Contract)
While Colour PPF is removable, lease agreements in the UAE can be tricky.
- The Scenario: You lease a car for 2 years. You wrap it Matte Black.
- The Reality: Most banks and dealerships technically own the car, not you. Some contracts have strict “no modification” clauses. Even though the film protects the paint, the dealership might charge you a penalty for “unauthorized alteration” when you return it, or force you to pay for professional removal (which can cost AED 500-1000).
- Our Advice: Read your contract or ask your leasing agent for written permission before you proceed.
3. You Want a “Perfect” Show-Car Finish for AED 3,000
You get what you pay for.
- The Scenario: You saw an ad on Instagram for “Full Colour Change AED 2,999.”
- The Reality: High-quality TPU material alone costs more than that. If you pay rock-bottom prices, you are getting cheap vinyl or low-grade PVC film. It will have orange peel. It will yellow in 6 months. It will have knife cuts on your paint.
- Our Advice: If you are on a tight budget, save your money. A cheap wrap looks worse than good factory paint. Wait until you can afford real TPU film.
4. You Plan to Sell the Car Next Month
Colour PPF increases value, but usually for the next owner, not you.
- The Scenario: You want to wrap the car to make it sell faster.
- The Reality: You will rarely get 100% of your money back on the modification immediately. If the job costs AED 12,000, you might only add AED 5,000 to the sale price.
- Our Advice: Only install Colour PPF if you plan to enjoy it for at least 1-2 years. The ROI comes from the enjoyment and protection during your ownership, not just the resale bump.
5. You Just Repainted Your Car (Yesterday)
This is a technical safety rule.
- The Scenario: You just got your bumper repainted at a garage because of a scratch. You bring it straight to us to protect it.
- The Reality: Fresh paint releases gases (solvents) as it cures. This process is called “outgassing” and takes about 30 days. If we put PPF over fresh paint, we trap those gases. This can cause bubbles or make the paint soft and gummy underneath the film.
- Our Advice: Wait at least 3-4 weeks after a paint job before booking your appointment.
Conclusion: Still Here? Then You’re Ready.
If none of these 5 reasons apply to you—if your paint is healthy, you plan to keep the car, and you value quality—then you are the perfect candidate for Colour PPF.
You are exactly the type of customer who will appreciate the difference between a “sticker” and “armor.”
Let’s do this right.
Bring your car in for a paint health check. If it passes, we’ll get to work.

FAQs
Q1: What are the main disadvantages of Colour PPF?
A: Colour PPF should not be installed over damaged paint, fresh repaint, or without considering lease terms and budget realities.
Q2: Can PPF fix peeling or oxidized paint?
A: No. PPF relies on healthy clear coat. Installing it over peeling paint can cause further damage.
Q3: Is Colour PPF allowed on leased cars?
A: Some lease contracts restrict modifications. Always check or get written permission before installation.
Q4: Can cheap Colour PPF give good results?
A: No. Low-cost wraps usually use vinyl or PVC, which yellows, scratches easily, and risks knife damage.
Q5: How long should I wait after repainting before PPF?
A: At least 3–4 weeks to allow proper paint curing and outgassing.
